Critical infrastructures such as airports, runways, tunnels and the underground or subway are highly sensitive applications where a power outage can have dangerous – and fatal – consequences.

One such risk is fire, which means that fire-fighting equipment must always be available. Hence, it is vital to follow the most rigourous technical rules that enable power availability to be increased – even in highly critical and dangerous environments.

In this paper, we examine the specifics of power availability for critical infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on fire-fighting electrical control panels.
